Quintas Wealth Management BES Fund

As you may be aware Business Expansion Schemes have been in existence for a number of years as a means of providing Tax Relief to Individuals who are willing to invest, and provide a source of much needed finance and capital to certain Companies. Over the years these have had varying degrees of success and failure.

At Quintas Wealth Management we have researched the market for BES and have come to the conclusion that they can represent sound investments if the risks are minimised. One way of minimising the risk is to refrain from investing directly in a BES qualified company and to invest instead in a BES Fund which in turn spreads the risk associated with such an investment over several companies.

In turn when the fund is well governed, performs stringent due diligence tests and has onerous heads of terms on the prospective investee companies, it is possible to identify very good companies as potential investee’s of the Fund.

We are delighted therefore to announce the launch of the 2009 Quintas Group BES Fund. This will be the second year of Quintas BES Funds, having raised €2.2m for the 2008 Fund. The 2008 fund is currently finalising its investments which are in a diverse range of companies involved in Medical Device’s, Tourism, Fish Farming, and Renewable Energy. This year’s Fund is the first Fund to receive regulatory approval in 2009.

Why choose BES?

  • Tax Relief available*
  • It enables the Investor to spread their risk. It is much safer to invest in a basket of diversified Companies rather than an individual Company.
  • A Fund is regulated by the Financial Regulator whereas a direct investment is not.
  • Tax Relief on all income up to a maximum of €150,000 per Investor per annum.
  • Clients with Rental profits who do not want to be exposed to purchasing Section 23 properties can avail of BES.
  • Unlike pensions the Investor gets access to their funds within the 5-6 year period as opposed to Normal Retirment Age with pension contributions.
  • If the Investor can remain in a BES Fund for 5 years, they will receive an annual gross return on cash from years 6-10, which can be utilised to pay Tax Bills in those years.

*Relief enables investors to deduct the cost of their qualifying investment from their total income for income tax purposes (up to a maximum of 150,000 per annum). You should contact yout tax adviser about the rules that apply to your individual circumstances. This investment may not be suitable for all investors.
